Research and work topics: Thinh is a native of the Saola country of central Vietnam. He went from patrol ranger at Vietnam's Bach Ma National Park to completing a PhD on the gibbons of Vietnam through the University of Goettingen in Germany. He is closely involved in WWF's Saola conservation efforts in his own 'backyard' in Thua Thien-Hue and Quang Nam provinces.
